Apartment in Canico
The village of Canico is in the sunny south of Madeira Island, centrally located between Funchal (12 kms) and about 14 km west of the airport, each way, it's close to the Madeiran motorway, the Via Rapida. The town centre with its shops, cafés and restaurants is just a 10 stroll from the apartment.
Finding the apartment
By car from the Airport:
Leave the Airport following signs for Funchal and join the Via Rapida (2 lane motorway).
At Junction 16 leave the Via Rapida and turn right towards Canico.
Continue up the hill following the road as it bends left and climbs.
At the top you have a 'Y' junction; follow the road left over a blind crest.
Continue downhill past a red wall, about 500m to a crossroads.
Turn left and proceed over Via Rapida bridge.
This road has 3 sharp corners, first is right after the bridge, second is left, third is right.
Turn the 3rd corner. 40m on your left is Canico Plaza.
Enter 'Bloco 3'.
Parking is under the block but you may find it easier to park at the front to unload your bags.
Please note; the slip roads are often very short so please exercise extreme caution especially when joining the Via Rapida.
